What we install most

Every material page covers appearance, upkeep, cost, and where that material works best. Start here to narrow down your choices.

Wood & cedar

This is the standard backyard privacy fence in most Conroe subdivisions. Cedar handles moisture better than pine, and both last longer with regular staining.

Vinyl

Vinyl never needs paint or stain and does not rot. Panels come solid or with open rails, and a hose rinse cleans them.

Ornamental steel & aluminum

These open metal fences suit pools, front yards, and lake lots, where you want a barrier without losing the view.

Chain link

Chain link is the most affordable option for dog runs, side yards, utility areas, and commercial lots. It also comes in black vinyl-coated versions.

Composite

Composite boards look like wood but do not warp, rot, or attract insects the same way. It costs more up front and needs less work afterward.

How to choose

Choosing for Conroe conditions

Conroe weather and ground narrow the choices quickly. Start with these questions.

  • How wet does the yard get? Long humid summers and heavy spring rain are hard on wood that sits close to the ground. Low lots near creeks or the river call for a rot board, good drainage under the fence, or a material that does not soak up water.
  • What is the soil like? Montgomery County ground ranges from loose sand to sticky clay, sometimes on one block. Post depth and footing size matter as much as the material you pick.
  • Is it a lake or canal lot? Open aluminum or steel keeps the view and holds up near the water. On Lake Conroe, we also check where SJRA land starts before planning the layout.
  • Are there big trees? On wooded lots, falling limbs are part of life. Wood and chain link are easy to repair one section at a time.
  • What does your HOA allow? Many communities limit the material, height, or color. We confirm the current rules for your lot before you choose.
  • Are there animals to keep in? Dogs, horses, and other livestock each call for different wire, spacing, and post layouts.

Still deciding? See fence styles or the pricing guide.
