Fences in Graystone Hills

An established northwest Conroe neighborhood with roomy lots and greenbelt edges, where many fences are now due for a rebuild.

When the first fence wears out

Graystone Hills isn’t new construction anymore. Village Builders, Ryland, and Chesmar built out the community west of I-45, off Loop 336 by way of Montgomery Park Blvd. The original fences have been through years of Texas sun, heavy rain, and sprinklers.

Fences of that age tend to fail in familiar ways: posts rotting at grade, rails pulling loose, a gate that won’t latch. A good rebuild uses the same footprint and makes the fence last longer, with new posts set deeper and stronger hardware on the gates.

Lots here run larger than average, and some reach close to half an acre. Many back onto the greenbelt trails, the lakes, or the nature preserve, so the rear line can face open space instead of another yard.

A note on the name: it’s spelled Graystone, with an “a,” like the street signs on Graystone Hills Dr.

Before you fence in Graystone Hills

Association review comes first. The Graystone Hills Community Association covers the neighborhood, and a listing names IMC Management as its manager. We haven’t seen fence guidelines published, so we don’t guess at height, color, or style. We get the current requirements and prepare the layout and material details the association asks for.

Greenbelt, lake, and preserve edges. Rear lines facing shared open space are where rules and easements are most likely to differ. We check the plat before choosing a style for that side.

Old posts come out cleanly. On a replacement we pull the old posts and concrete instead of setting new ones beside them, so the line stays true and nothing is left in the ground to trip a future dig.

City limits and permits. We confirm whether your address is inside Conroe city limits. If it is, the city’s Building Inspections and Permits department may be part of the process; we check what applies before quoting.

Texas 811. Even on a replacement, we request utility locates before digging. Lines can sit closer to an old fence than people expect.

Association rules and city requirements can change. We confirm the current rules for your lot before quoting.

Ornamental steel or aluminum along a greenbelt or lake line keeps the yard secure without blocking the view.

Repair and restain

If the fence is mostly sound, fixing a few posts and cleaning and sealing the boards can buy it more years.

Questions

Graystone Hills fence questions

Do you serve Graystone Hills?

Yes. We’re based at 1135 Grand Central Pkwy in Conroe and work on the Loop 336 west side often. Call or text (713) 331-9419 to book a free estimate.

Can you replace a fence without changing the look?

Yes. If you want the new fence to match what the street already has, we can rebuild in a similar style with stronger posts and better boards. Any change still goes to the association for review if its rules require it.

Who approves fences in Graystone Hills?

The Graystone Hills Community Association. We haven’t found published fence guidelines, so we confirm the current requirements for that property and handle the submittal paperwork before we quote.

My yard backs to the greenbelt. What are my options?

Greenbelt and preserve lines are often treated differently from side lines. We check your plat and the association’s rules first; where allowed, an open metal fence keeps the green space in view.

Should I repair or replace my old fence?

If a few posts are leaning or a gate sags, a repair may be enough. If boards are gray, posts are soft at the ground, and several sections move, replacement usually costs less over time. We’ll tell you which makes sense after we look.
